Cancellation and Refund Policy
Last updated October 9, 2026.
This policy explains how you can cancel an agreement with Comfort Zone Heating & Air Conditioning (“Comfort Zone”, “we”) and how refunds work. It is written to follow Ontario’s Consumer Protection Act, 2002. Nothing in this policy limits any right you have under that Act.
1. Your 10-day cooling-off period
If you sign an agreement with us for goods or services in your home, or anywhere other than our Cobourg showroom, you may cancel it for any reason, without penalty, within 10 days after the day you receive your written copy of the agreement. You do not need to give a reason.
The 10 days are calendar days. If the last day falls on a weekend or holiday, you have until the next business day.
2. How to cancel
Tell us in writing, in any way that lets you prove when you sent it. You can:
- Email customerservice@comforthvac.ca
- Mail or drop off a letter at 701 Brook Rd N, Cobourg, ON K9A 4J8
- Use the cancellation form attached to your agreement, if one was provided
Include your name, address, the date of your agreement and a statement that you are cancelling. A notice is considered given when you send it.
3. Refunds after cancellation
If you cancel within the cooling-off period, we will refund every payment you made under the agreement, including any deposit, within 15 days after we receive your notice. Refunds are made to the original payment method.
If equipment has already been delivered to your home, we will arrange to pick it up at no cost to you. Please keep it in reasonable condition until we collect it.
4. Work started during the cooling-off period
We will not start installation work during your 10-day cooling-off period unless you ask us to in writing, for example because you have no heat or hot water. Emergency repairs you request are not delayed by this policy.
5. Longer cancellation rights
You may have up to one year to cancel if your written agreement is missing information the Act requires, or if we fail to deliver or begin the work within 30 days of the date promised. If this applies to you, contact us and we will work it out with you.
6. Service calls and repairs
Service calls and repairs you book are charged for work already completed. If you cancel a booked visit before our technician arrives, there is no charge. Please give us as much notice as you can so we can offer the time to another customer.
7. Monthly payment plans
If you pay monthly using NGL, your payment agreement includes its own terms and cancellation rights. Your cooling-off rights for the equipment and installation still apply as described above.
8. Warranties and guarantees
Manufacturer warranties and our written guarantees are separate from this policy and continue to apply after the cooling-off period.
